Civil Engineering & Architecture (CEA) is a specialization course of the High School Curriculum of Project Lead The Way. In CEA, students use engineering and scientific concepts to design and develop residential and commercial properties and structures. Specific tasks include cost and efficiency analyses (building costs, heat loss), building code research, structural analyses (roof and floor loading; beam, girder, and column loading), services and utilities design (public water and sewer, electrical, and HVAC), storm water run off, and soil testing (load analysis). Specific projects include a residential design for Habitat for Humanity, a commercial design for a public library, and a community center.

Curriculum: A student version of the curriculum is available in the myPLTW Courses website. Students will be provided with user ids and passwords in class.
Homework: Homework assignments are listed in the myPLTW Courses website.
Software: Autodesk Revit Architecture will be installed on all student laptops.
College Credit: Students that score 85% or greater in the class and exceed the minimum raw score on the End of Course exam are eligible for college credit. Students will be given additional information after they take the End of Course exam in May.
